Our annual Awards Banquet, that was held on February 2nd, was blessed wi th spr ingtime weather for a change. Again this year, the event was held at the Dorsett Syberg's, our 6th year there. As in the past, their food and service was outstanding and the evening went well. The threat of severe weather two weeks before caused us to reschedule the event. As it turned out, the forecasters were wrong again but we just couldn’t take the chance. We did have entertainment planned but we were not able to reschedule him for our new date. Other than a malfunctioning microphone, the night went off without a hitch. The banquet is held to thank our outgoing board of directors for all of their work, introduce our new board of directors, and of course, announce the winners of our points race from the previous year. Bart McNail was honored with a Certificate of Appreciation for his continuing work for our club that does not go unnoticed. The banquet is a great way to kick off our new year with good friends and family. This year, instead of the usual individual attendance prizes, we gave away 10 $25 QT gas cards. This was in addition to the $50 grand attendance prize. We also had a 50-50 drawing with all of the proceeds given back to the winners. Donna Layton crafted and donated a “Route 66 Basket” with the proceeds going to The BackStoppers. Although there was no business discussed that night, our MC, Syl Biermann gave some history of past banquets and made our members and guests aware of our charity donations from the past year. The BackStoppers, the USO, and Toys for Tots were our main benefactors. Quite impressive. Our special guests that night were Kerry Childers from Dave Sinclair Ford and Kevin Hall from Bommarito Ford. It’s great to see our sponsors be part of this important night for our club. This was the 24th year of the points race which was started to encourage our members to be active with our club and to reward those who are. The points race is mostly a “just for fun” thing but it is a great way to honor those who are so much a part of our club. For our newer members, this is a good time to start your competition in the points race as this night was our first activity to attain points. There is so much work to pull this off each year and it takes so many people to do so. Special thanks go out to the “Voice of Fords Unlimited”, Syl Biermann for all of his work as our MC and to our board of directors and others who put in so many hours behind the scenes in making the night a success. We thank them for all of their work. It was truly a great night.
