Valley of Flowers Car Show

O n May 5th, our club headed to Florissant, Missouri for the annual Valley of Flowers Car Show. The show is set against the backdrop of the historic business district of Old Town Florissant. The show lined rue St. Francois from St. Pierre St. to Lafayette St. This section of rue St. Francois was closed to traffic and only cars in the show were allowed admittance to the street.

This was our first outdoor event of the year that rain or storms did not effect the outcome. Unfortunately, mother nature gave us a taste of late July with temps in the 90’s with high humidity. Damn, it was hot!

Our club showed up with 12 members and went home with another as Frank Wisa joined our club.

The day ended on a sour noted as the Best of Show car, a red Chevelle, was hit by a Mach I who was leaving. Bummer.

T he follow up to the car show was the Valley of Flowers parade that was held on May 6th. It was not a club event as we could only have six vehicles so we took the first six to sign up. Our members parading their cars and trucks were Paula Goodrich, Jake Turnupseed, Jerry Grimmer, Ed Mauzy, Dan Kelly, and Ron Walters.

It was great fun for all of the family members who attended and special thanks go out to Dan Kelly for organizing the event for our club and special thanks to Ron Walters who brought his fire truck all the way from Troy in Lincoln County.
